“Engineering a New Tomorrow” is the theme of the first short-term Semester at Sea voyage. The voyage will take an interdisciplinary approach to engineering education to explore the global challenges facing humanity and the opportunities to engineer an equitable and sustainable future.
Operated by the nonprofit Institute for Shipboard Education, Semester at Sea‘s worldwide itineraries offer rigorous coursework coupled with field assignments, service learning in multiple international destinations, and the skills necessary to compete in today’s rapidly globalizing world. Students will earn credit through University of Virginia that can be transferred and used toward their degree at VCU.
The voyage is from May 20, 2011 to June 15, 2011 and will travel to the Bahamas, Trinidad, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. More information on the trip can be found here.
