It’s that time of year again:

Applications are open for Education Abroad Scholarships for 2013-2014! We honestly can’t think of a better holiday gift than studying abroad – but then again, we are Education Abroad!

This year we are awarding $100,000 in scholarships. The deadline is February 14th (Valentine’s Day – easy to remember). Don’t wait until then though, apply today, right after that last final or paper!

Two $3,500 Scholarships Available for Australia!

Two students on the International Business short course will be awarded $3,500 AUD scholarships to help cover the cost of program fees. These scholarships are supported by the University of Melbourne. Applications will be available after acceptance.

This two week program, offered through The University of Melbourne and GlobaLinks Learning Abroad, is designed to develop broad, integrated knowledge of international business practices and skills needed to work in global companies. Students will acquire insight into the social, cultural, political, and economic factors that influence business in the global environment, while gaining an introduction to the important role that Asia-Pacific countries play in the world economy.

German Language and Culture in Aachen

The Global Education Office and the VCU School of World Studies, in conjunction with the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, are pleased to offer an innovative summer study abroad program in Germany. The program offers an exceptional opportunity for students to immerse themselves in German language and culture while enjoying the sights and sounds of the historically important spa town of Aachen (home of Charlemagne) in west central Germany. Participants will have a classroom-based language learning experience at the university’s long-established international German language school, as well as a cultural learning experience through lectures, tours and excursions.

Canada Fulbright deadline extended to STEM students

STEM student? Canada is calling you!

Canada is home to some of the most distinguished scientists and technologically-advanced research facilities in the world. Due to its proximity and strong ties to the United States, Canada also offers exceptional comparative study opportunities and the possibility for long-term research collaborations. The STEM award carries a value of $120,000, over three years, for American students seeking to complete a PhD program in a STEM field in Canada. New Spring Break Faculty-Led Study Abroad Program for Grad Students

Early and Elementary Education in Italy PosterEarly and Elementary Education in Italy is a 7-credit study abroad program for students in the Master’s of Teaching Program in Early/Elementary Education. Students will spend 2 weeks in Florence over spring break, exploring concepts of their core courses through immersion in diverse language and literacy settings in Florence.

Scholarship Alert!

CIEE’s Language Intensive Focus Track Scholarship (LIFT) will provide $100,000 annually to encourage students to study one of five languages—Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, or Russian—for a year in another country.

LIFT scholarships will be initially offered to current CIEE students pursuing intensive language development in Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Russian, and will expand to all CIEE language programs beginning in fall 2013. Scholarship awards will be a minimum of $5,000 and will be awarded to exemplary students based on undergraduate GPA and the strength of a personal essay.
