Welcome to the Fall 2016 Semester!

ASME at VCU will be having the first general meeting Today, Thursday, September 8th at 6pm in the West Engineering Building, Room 103. Our Guest Speaker will be Tony Marotto from the Central VA Local ASME Chapter. He will give an overview of what ASME is. We will also be collecting dues, selling Awesome ASME T-Shirts, and eating pizza! Additionally, we will tell you what events we are lining up for the year.

For those of you who want to attend, please RSVP to mahmoodes@mymail.vcu.edu. In the subject line, please put ASME MEETING 9/8. I will be using these RSVPs to ensure we have enough pizza, so please let me know BEFORE 3:00PM Today.

Please plan to pay your $15 dues at the meeting. The t-shirts we plan to sell for $15 each. However, we plan to have a Paid Up Early Deal: 1 t-shirt and your dues for $25, a $5 savings! This offer will ONLY be available to members who pay dues at ASME Student Meetings before the end of Oct, 2016.

I look forward to seeing you all Thursday afternoon!

General Meeting

ASME@VCU’s penultimate general meeting for the semester was yesterday, April 14. We had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Yeo speak about his work in bio-interfaced engineering.

1

Dr. Yeo’s research group creates devices that are compatible with the mechanics of the human form – curvilinear, stretchy.

 2

Dr. Yeo also answered the scavenger hunt question, “where can you find thousands of dollars in gold hidden on VCU’s campus?”

Thank you, Dr. Yeo!
