Please consider this as an advanced notice: on March 5th, 2019, Technology Services will archive any blog on the wp.vcu.edu platform that HAS NOT been updated or modified since January 1, 2017. At the time of writing this message, there are 4,047 blogs which meet this criteria and will be archived. The full list of blogs scheduled to be archived is available upon request by submitting a Service Desk ticket to go.vcu.edu/webhelp.
After this change, public visitors and blog users will not be able to access the blog any longer and will be prompted with a “This site is no longer available” message and HTTP 410 response code.
Prior to March 5th, blog content can be exported and moved to another WordPress platform such as blogs.vcu.edu by navigating to the Dashboard > Tools > Export or visiting http://wp.vcu.edu/<blog path>/wp-admin/export.php. After generating an exported .xml file you can import this file into other wordpress platforms following that platform’s instructions.
This change request has followed Technology Services’ Change Management protocol and was approved by the Technology Services’ Change Advisory Board on February 7th, 2019. Details of this change request are documented in Change Request #9008062.
No service disruption is expected for blogs that HAVE been modified since January 1, 2017.
