Michaela Blankenship. Michaela is a third year Psychology major here at VCU. She plans on attending graduate school to get her PhD in Counseling Psychology. Once she graduates, she hopes to become a therapist for adolescents. In her free time, Michaela loves to go to concerts, play guitar, take pictures, and spend time with her friends.
Marwa has majored in Biology and Sociology with minors in French and Chemistry at VCU. Her future plans include becoming an international trauma physician after attending medical school. She is an avid cyclist, yogi, gym-junkie, and artist. She is a certified group exercise instructor with a love of sharing her passion for health and wellness practices.
Rafa Khan. Rafa is a Biology major and a chemistry minor on the pre-med at VCU. She is planning on graduating in the spring of 2020 and then continuing her education at medical school. Her future goal is to become a surgeon and a specialist, with a primary focus in both gynecology and pediatrics. Other than going to school and interning at the BHRL, Rafa also works as a licensed pharmacy technician. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends/family, listening to music, and going out on adventures.
Destini Braxton. Her future plan is to get her masters in Elementary Special Education. Later on, she plans to get her PhD in Child Psychology, specifically focusing on child development. She is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. and she serves as the Community service/philanthropy chair. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, traveling, babysitting, spending time with her dogs, online shopping, and spending time with her friends and family.
Jacquelyn Cogley. Jacquelyn is a double major in psychology and criminal justice. She is still trying to figure out exactly what she wants to do but she is interested in clinical psychology, health psychology, and child psychology. Jacquelyn plans to go to graduate school to further her education. In her free time she enjoys playing video games, spending time with family and friends, shopping, going to the beach, playing with her cat, and watching HGTV!
Mishaal Khan. Mishaal is a Psychology major and Chemistry minor at VCU, planning to graduate in Spring 2018. She is on the pre-medicine track, and aspires to become a doctor. Her research interests include addiction, eating disorders, and autoimmunity. In her free time, she likes to watch the news, spend time with her family, and draw mandalas.
Sohum Bhatt. Sohum is a junior Psychology and Biology major at VCU. His research interests are studying the association and possible therapies for depression in youth and young adults with Turner’s syndrome. In his free time, Sohum plays quidditch, swing dances, and cooks.
Nancy Sey. Nancy is a Psychology major and a Biology minor. She wants to continue on to graduate school and focus on degenerative disorders. She enjoys biking, working out and eating in her leisure hours 🙂
Sierra Williams. Sierra is currently a student at VCU. She expects to graduate in Spring 2017 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. After graduation, Sierra plans to attend nursing school and pursue her dreams of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. “BHRL is my first internship along with my first research opportunity! The time spent in the lab has been a great time spent learning and enjoying everyone’s company! This is a great team of supportive individuals I’m glad to have joined such a rewarding group of individuals!” In her free time, Sierra loves to volunteer, watch Law & Order SVU, travel, and spend time with family and friends.
Phoebe Brosnan. Phoebe graduated from Barnard College in 2012 with a B.A. in English and concentration in creative writing. She is currently enrolled in psychology classes at Northern Virginia Community College and intends to earn a PhD in social psychology. She is interested in researching the effects of nostalgia on identity and relationships. Outside of the lab you can find Phoebe making coffee, playing Rummikub, listening to Fleetwood Mac, and practicing yoga.
Tiffany Garrett. Tiffany graduated from VCU in December with a B.S in Psychology with a minor in History. She hopes to pursue a career in mental health or in consumer Psych. In her free time she enjoys reading, binge watching Netflix, and spending time with her friends and family.
Dahae Lee. Dahye graduated from VCU in December 2015 with Psychology and Chemistry double majors. She has many interests and hopes to pursue a career in teaching, counseling, health psychology, or forensic psychology. “This is my first research experience at VCU. I love being part of the BHRL crew with such warm environments and caring hearts. The BHRL has prepared me in a lot of areas, as this lab requires and teaches various skills such as biological lab techniques, psychological measures and participant recruitment strategy. I will always remember my first internship experience with such a great team (women power!) and the jokes and laughter we shared!”
Julia Rozman. Julia is a psychology major and biology minor. She plans to go to medical school after graduation to become a physician – currently interested in psychoneurology and functional neurology. She also works in inpatient pediatric psychiatry at VCU Health. In her free time she enjoys traveling, going on adventures, spending time with friends and family and her dog, hiking, scuba diving, surfing, sky diving, snowboarding and skiing, kickboxing, dancing, and working out
