Welcome and thank you for visiting my online curriculum vitae! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy. I specialize in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy (e.g., dyslipidemia, hypertension, and heart failure) and diabetes management. My credentials include: Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, Certified Diabetes Educator, and Clinical Lipid Specialist. I am also an Associate of the American College of Cardiology (AACC).
I’m originally from North Carolina and completed all of my undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy coursework at Campbell University in North Carolina. After earning my Doctor of Pharmacy in 2006, I completed a one-year, ASHP-Accredited specialty residency in Primary Care at the Charles George Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
From 2007 – 2012, I practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The pharmacist-managed clinic involved working collaboratively with the Departments of Cardiology and Internal Medicine to manage patients on anticoagulants, anti-arrhythmics, and lipid-lowering agents. Furthermore, I co-developed the Healthy Outcome Partnership for Employees with diabetes (HOPE) program, which provided participants with pharmacist-directed diabetes education and management. During this time, I also precepted PGY-1 pharmacy residents and student pharmacists from Campbell and Wingate Schools of Pharmacy.
