Two Types of Mock Interviews: Practice with a Counselor (2/21) or Practice with an Employer (2/27)!

From time to time, we all need to practice.  If you want to practice your interviewing skills with either a career counselor or an employer, make sure you sign up!

Counselor Mock Interviews:  Wednesday, 2/21

Use this link to select a time for a practice interview with our career counseling staff.  Available time slots are from 9-4pm (with the exception of the lunch hour).  This day is for students and alumni who want practice with staff before they practice with an employer!  If you are still a bit nervous, then this might be the better day.

Employer Mock Interviews:  Tuesday, 2/27

Use this link to select a time for a practice interview with an employer.  Available time slots are from 9-4pm (with the exception of the lunch hour). This day is for students and alumni who have interviewing practice before and now believe they want direct feedback from employers.

How to register:

Registration is now open and it is on a first come, first served basis!  Please download and then email the completed registration form or drop off the form in the Business Career Center.  On the form, indicate ALL of the time slots that work best for you.  I am going to assign each person who registers one interview.

If you are going to email the form, send it to and put either counselor mock interview” or “employer mock interview” in the subject line.

Deadline to register:  Feb. 20, 2018

Interviews will be conducted in Snead Hall.  Please check in at our office at B1102

Cintas Info Session: Today from 12-1:30pm (Recruiting for Rotational Management Training Positions)! Ideal for recent graduates and May 2018 graduates!

They have a wonderful Management Training program that rotates through the following functions:  HR, Service, Warehouse, Production, HSS, Sales, Six Sigma, and Management).  The position is posted on Hirebusrams:  Job ID 31008.

They will be conducting on-campus interviews on Feb. 23rd so apply through hirerams for the position to see if you can get selected for an interview.  Think you might need some interviewing prepping?

The IRS is coming!! 

 I had a chance to meet a Special Agent from the Dept of Treasury with the IRS. She is a Criminal Investigator here in Richmond and wants to tell students and alumni about opportunities for this career path.  If you are a US Citizen and you have a degree (with at least 15 credit hours in accounting), there will be an immediate opening that you might want to consider.

If you are graduating in Dec 2017 or in May 2018, she is still happy to talk to you about this career path and collect resumes so that you can be informed when new opportunities arise.

Our rep will be here this Thursday for a table in the Atrium from 9-11, and she will have office hours from 11-12 and 1-3pm in the Business Career Center (B-1102).  

What should you bring on Thursday?  

Bring your resume and your unofficial transcripts.  She is interested in finding out if you have a degree and can start soon or if you are interested in a future opportunity. 

Any business major or alumni with at least 15 credit hours in accounting, with an interest in working in Richmond or the Northern VA, DC area should come in.  No appointments necessary.  

Full-time Salary:  

You can come into the Federal Govt as a GL 5, 7 or 9.
GL 5 starts at 40, 511

GL9 starts at 51, 424
Salary will include an additional twenty five percent Law Enforcement Availability Pay.
