Success from the Fall Accounting Recruiting Season with NABA!

NABA President, Kadeja Abbott has share this with me to post on my Blog.  So many of our NABA students have already found job or scholarship success!

These were highlights from NABA Eastern Region Student Conference that took place Thursday, Oct. 5th through Saturday, Oct. 7th.

In attendance were more than 615 students from college/universities across the Eastern Region. We were able to bring 20 students with us to Norfolk, Virginia to represent our NABA student chapter at VCU. Of those 20 students, several of them were pre-selected or selected on the spot for interviews with the companies. Furthermore, some of our members had 1 to 5 interviews all in one day or over the course of two days.

There were more than 35 corporate sponsors there in support of NABA or to recruit exceptional talent among the NABA members including Big 4 Accounting Firms, Regional Accounting Firms, and Fortune 500 companies such as Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Vanguard, and much more.

Besides the firms, there were also colleges/universities there to recruit students into their Masters’ programs including University of Virginia, Wake Forest University, American University, and more.

In conclusion, I’d like to bring your attention to some of the accomplishments of our members:

Curtis Holloway, Treasurer of NABA won a scholarship amounting to a CPA review subscription through Becker. He also served as a NABA ambassador to assist new and returning conference attendees.

Destinee Moragne, immediate past PR of NABA, current President of SGA also served as a NABA ambassador to assist new and returning conference attendees. She also participated in recruiting for RSM at Friday morning’s NABA ERSC career fair.
Derek Hetrick, a new member of NABA, attended one of the leadership sessions to observe and take note on how to run a successful chapter. He has intentions on becoming an officer when most of the current executive board graduate.Lastly, serving as this year’s President for our NABA chapter at VCU, I (Kadeja Abbott) was afforded the opportunity to win a $4,000 scholarship on behalf of the NABA Eastern Region Chapter. I was also chosen for this year’s Outstanding Student Award and provided a touching speech to the audience on how I have come this far. Certainly, there were tears filled up in the room.

NABA is important to many of our members at VCU and we just wanted to share our experiences with the School of Business!
