Hiring Six AmeriCorps VISTA Mentor Program Coordinators

Applications are currently being accepted for the AmeriCorps VISTA position of Mentor Program Coordinator at six host sites through the Virginia Mentoring Partnership. The member will be instrumental in establishing, developing or building capacity for their assigned host mentoring organization. The VISTA member will design and implement a mentor recruitment and marketing program; launch and facilitate training initiatives; match and support mentors and mentees; and, evaluating the program. The position is full-time, 40 hour/week and will be housed various sites throughout Central Virginia. Special consideration will be given to candidates who possess any of the following skills and experience: Spanish language skills, military experience, expertise with special needs youth, working with college volunteers.

Four positions are available in Richmond; one in Charlottesville and one at Ft. Lee.

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree encouraged; applicants should be enthusiastic, committed to the ethic of service and interested in serving in Central Virginia. Qualities sought after include good organizational skills; computer skills ; communication and writing
skills are a plus; ability to work with others from a diverse background; as well as self-initiative and past experience in
volunteering and/or within the nonprofit sector.

The VISTA member is paid $11,124 annual stipend with a $5,500 education award or a $1500 cash stipend of appreciation presented at the end of a year of service. The VISTA position is yearlong, with a possibility of 2nd and 3rd year extensions with all compensation
provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

Applications close May 30, 2012 with hires completed prior to June 22. Required pre-service training, paid in full by CNCS, is schedule for August 20-23 in Atlanta, Georgia.
