Forensic Scientist l/ Latent Prints-Maryland


This is the entry level position for the Latent Prints Examiner. The main purpose of the job is to train to perform the duties of a qualified latent print examiner. Areas of study include but are not limited to the following: introduction to forensic science, history of personal identification and friction ridge skin identification, the biology of friction skin, fingerprint classification, recording known exemplars, latent print processing methods, latent print recovery methods, automated fingerprint identification systems and courtroom procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, genetics, medical technology, pharmaceutical science, criminal justice or related physical, natural or forensic science from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None

Notes: Experience performing comparative analysis or scientific evaluation of evidence to include experience in providing expert testimony may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
