We’re tuning our account create process to automate the Google account create process.

What’s Happening Today – August 14, 2012

We’ve started work on Google Message Encryption.  Google Message Encryption will allow users to send encrypted messages based on a key word in the subject field – similar to what we do currently with Zixmail.  We’ll share more details as soon as the system is up and running.

Collaboration Services staff are archiving databases for the next groups on the migration schedule.

What’s Happening Today – August 13, 2012

The migration of VCU Libraries is nearing completion.  Two databases remain in the migration queue.  We expect these to finish before the close of business today.

We’ve been updating the Gone Google site with changes to the migration schedule.  Please check the site frequently as schedule changes may occur.

Archiving has started for the College of Humanities and Sciences Dean’s Office staff, as well as for the HASTech unit.

What’s Happening Today – August 10, 2012

Migration is progressing for VCU Libraries.  Migration has completed for 78 users with 45 users in the migration queue.  Collaboration Services staff will monitor the migrations through the weekend.

What’s Happening Today – August 9, 2012

Connectivity to the Google network has resumed.  Therefore the VCU Libraries migration has been started.  The migration will proceed through the weekend.

Collaboration Services staff are working to prepare Humanities and Sciences staff for migration for the week of September 4th.

What’s Happening Today – August 8, 2012

The migration of VCU Libraries is on hold today.  The migration servers are experiencing an issue connecting to the Google domain.

We will continue to work to prepare the next group of users (Humanities & Sciences Dean’s Office) and work on those open tasks we still have on our to-do list, including Google Encryption, Blackberry Enterprise Server and finalizing the account create process.

What’s Happening Today – August 7, 2012

We’ve updated the AppsforVCU web site – it now references the Gone Google FAQs.

Google Groups have been created for VCU Libraries based on those groups in the Domino Directory.

Lotus Notes calendar data from the Room Reservation database will be migrated into Google Calendars later this evening in preparation for tomorrow’s migration.

Archiving of user databases for VCU Libraries has completed.

What’s Happening Today – August 6, 2012

The migration of School of Pharmacy faculty/staff completed over the weekend.  We are continuing to work with the Pharmacy staff to identify those affiliates who may need to be migrated to Google Apps.

VCU Libraries faculty/staff have received their new Google Apps accounts.  Migration will begin on August 8th.

Reviewing open technical items relating to post-migration issues as well as preparing for work items that are on our to-do list including:

Pending:

Adding MCVH Hospital staff to shared contacts in Google.

Enabling Google Encryption Services.

Finalizing the Google account create processes.

What’s Happening Today – August 3, 2012

The School of Pharmacy migration is nearing completion.  We anticipate that those few users remaining in the migration queue, will be completed by late this evening or early tomorrow morning.
