Honors College Idea Exchange Meeting!

The Honors College Idea Exchange will be having a meeting this Wednesday September 29th at 9pm in the Honors College Multipurpose Room. 
We will be discussing upcoming events such as Game Night, our trip to Kings Dominion, volunteering at Carver Elementary, and even more ideas for this fall.  Please come out to meet the officers and current members while also giving us your ideas!  Any questions feel free to contact us at

Additional Seminar for This Week!

The Honors College will be offering Berglund Seminar credit for a Biomedical Engineering lecture to be held this Wednesday, September 29th, at 7 pm. Dr. Vigneshwar Kasirajan, Chairman of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at VCU, will be coming to talk to about mechanical circulatory support and implications with regards to biomaterials.  This lecture will be held in room 101 (the auditorium) of Engineering West (601 W. Main St.). If you attend, don’t forget to bring your passport so that you can receive credit for attending.

Great Decision’s Discussion Group: U.S. China Relations
China’s influence is growing, along with its military expenditures.How will this growth affect China’s relations with its neighbors and with the U.S.? Will China’s expanding military and economic power affect traditional U.S. roles and U.S. alliances in East Asia? How will countries like Japan, South Korea and India respond? Join us for a discussion group regarding U.S. China relations on September 29th at 12p at the Honors College (701 W. Grace Street) room 1303. Student’s interested in joining the discussion group should stop by the Honors College receptionist desk to pick up a supplementary article. Students are more than welcome to bring a brown bag lunch to the discusssion group. Questions about this and future discussion groups should be directed to Marisa Day (

Passport Checks and Registration

All honors students are required to attend 3 honors seminars every semester in order to be eligible for first-day honors registration. In order to verify active participation, the Honors College checks passports prior to registration each semester. Please bring your passport with at least 3 stamps from Spring 2010 and your new passport with at least 2 stamps from this Fall. If you are new to the Honors College this semester, you only need to bring your current passport with 2 stamps. Passports will be checked on Thursday, 10/14, from 9:30 am to noon and noon to 4 pm and on Friday, 10/15, from 9 to noon. You must visit the Honors College on these days and during these times to be eligible for first-day honors registration.
