University Academic Advising: Pre-Health Advising is hosting a Health Professional Programs Expo that will provide students the opportunity to network and learn about various health sciences academic and career options available at VCU and across Virginia.
The speed networking session, offered from 12-1PM, will provide students direct access to learn from all representatives about their specific programs in a speed networking format. Students must register for this event. The second half of the program will be an information fair and students can visit the tables of the programs to speak with representatives for more information. Food and drink will be provided during the information fair and donated prizes (including GRE, MCAT study materials) and other give-aways will be raffled offered all afternoon!

The Honors College will be conducting a 4-week group about mindfulness and meditation for honor students throughout the month of April. Research has proven that mindfulness and meditative practices can substantially improve one’s well-being and even change one’s brain chemistry! The implications for college students are numerous, as mindfulness has been proven to help with stress management, sleep quality, test anxiety, and even glossophobia!
Students who participate in this 4-week group will receive a Berglund credit, as long as they are present and active in all four sessions. Interested students are encouraged to attend an info session in room 1303 on the following dates:
- Wednesday, 4/1 at 1 p.m.
- Friday, 4/3 at 3 p.m.

Spit 4 Science, a university-wide research initiative which explores genetic influences and environmental factors in relation to substance use and emotional health among VCU students, will be holding an educational event at the Honors College on Wednesday, March 25 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The event is hosted and led by current VCU students and will explore topics ranging from alcohol/drug use to sexual behavior, with all findings coming directly from the participation of VCU students! Pizza and prizes will be provided!
The Honors College Mentorship Program will be holding info sessions for current students who are interested in serving as mentors for incoming freshmen throughout the Fall 2015 semester. Info sessions will be held in room 1303 on the following dates:
- Monday, 3/23 at 3:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, 3/24 at 11:00 a.m.
- Tuesday, 3/24 at 3:00 p.m.
- Friday, 3/27 at 11:00 a.m.

Following the very successful First Annual Regenerative Medicine Summer School of 2014 at the University of Pittsburgh, the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine announces its Second Annual Regenerative Medicine Summer School June 1 – 5, 2015. The program is designed to provide a week-long didactic and hands-on learning experience addressing the science and engineering related to the multidisciplinary field of regenerative medicine. The program targets undergraduates enrolled in a science or engineering program, who will have completed their 3rd year of study. Exceptional candidates who will have completed their 2nd year of undergraduate study will also be considered. Last year’s class featured twenty bright and eager students from across the country; we look forward to another positive experience this summer! We hope you will be able to join us! ISA will be hosting a free webinar presentation titled, “EuroScholars Undergraduate Research Program,” for advisors, faculty and students. The webinar will take place at 2:00 PM EST on Thursday, March 5th. During the 30 minute presentation, ISA will discuss the EuroScholars program structure, participating European institutions, and the ideal student profile. There will be time for audience questions at the end of the presentation.
The Honors College will be streaming the webinar on Thursday in the Multipurpose Room (Room 1303) in the Honors College. Registration is not required, but please show up early as space will be limited.
