Open Research Position in Dept. of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science

There is an open position in the lab of Dr. Mary Peace McRae, who is an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at VCU School of Pharmacy on MCV.

The main research focus of the lab is to characterize the functional consequences of drugs of abuse (such as methamphetamine and morphine) coupled with HIV on the transport of anti-retroviral drugs across the blood brain barrier. Our lab does primarily bench top research. Techniques the undergrad will be conducting may include western blot, immunofluorescence, microscopy and image analysis. Students can volunteer their time or gain independent study credit hours. While experience is recommended, it is not a requirement.  Time commitment 10-20 hours per week.

Doctors Without Borders at VCU World Health Gala

Students Supporting Doctors without Borders at VCU is hosting its first ever “World Health Gala”. The event will be on November 7th and will be at 7pm in the Commons Rooms A-D. There will be Performances, an Open-Forum Lecture from Physicians at MCV on their personal experiences abroad, a Photo Booth, and more! Not to mention, food is being catered from 4 different food vendors including: Thai Top Ten, Shawarma Shack, Lemon Indian Cuisine, and Chicken Fiesta. The event is FREE. College of Humanities and Sciences Alumni-Professional Roundtable Event

The Student Leadership Council of VCU’s College of Humanities and Sciences will be hosting an Alumni-Professional Roundtable Event to connect current students with the real life experiences of some of the College’s most successful graduates. Alumni participants will share their own VCU experience and reflections on their careers or time in graduate school to help inspire YOU – the next generation of students as you craft your path after graduation. Alumni will share how they used or didn’t use their major in finding their career path, things learned in school that helped them in their career, and advice on what is important in making the transition from college to career and/or graduate school. Student will have the opportunity to ask questions or contribute to the discussion. The event will end with time for students to mingle and exchange contact info with the panelists and enjoy refreshments.
