Welcome Dr. Jean Bailey, Assistant Dean for Faculty Development

Please join us in welcoming Jean M. Bailey, PhD, to the Dean’s office as the new Assistant Dean for Faculty Development.  Before joining the VCU School of Medicine, Jean was the Director of Educator Development Programs at Central Michigan University’s new College of Medicine (CMU CoM).  Jean provided development activities to faculty teaching throughout the curriculum.  Prior to CMU CoM, Jean held various academic leadership positions, ranging from dean-level to chief academic officer, at community colleges in Michigan, Minnesota, and Montana.  She has also served as a full-time and adjunct faculty member at the community college and graduate school levels.  

Dr. Bailey graduated from the Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education doctoral program at Michigan State University where she also received her master’s in College and University Administration.  Her research interests include faculty roles, gender studies, and work/life issues.  She will work with Dr. Terry Carter, Dr. Ken Warren, and our faculty development staff in providing a diverse array of workshops, seminars, and courses.
