Dr. Carter has more than 30 years of experience teaching and training adults in best practices for adult learning, including experience in assisting faculty in medical education. Her areas of expertise include teaching strategies for engaging learners, curriculum design, small and large group facilitation, qualitative research in medical education, and reflective practice.

Kenneth Warren Foster, Ed.D.

Assistant Professor and Instructional Technologist for Medical Education

Dr. Foster leads the development of the School of Medicine’s iTeach web portal, an online faculty development resource that illuminates best practices of teaching and learning with technology in medical education. He works with basic science and clinical faculty, enabling them  to re-imagine their teaching for flipped, hybrid and online learning contexts. He also teaches graduate courses in the Teaching in Medical Education Faculty Fellows program and has significant experience with using digital storytelling as a narrative exercise for reflective learning. deborahstewartDebbie Stewart, B.I.S.

Education Program Coordinator

Ms. Stewart has worked in faculty development for 20 years with program management of faculty teaching awards, women in medicine conference, faculty development workshops and seminars, and SOM new faculty orientation.  She is an alumna of VCU with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies.  Debbie is also the 2006 recipient of the VCU and VCUHS Dorris Douglas Budd Award for the exceptional standards she has practiced in her profession.  Her areas of focus include program marketing, logistics, production and technology assistance with programs, and fiscal management. LRLa’tisha Roberson, M.Ed.

Training Specialist for Medical Education

Ms. Roberson collaborates with the Faculty Development team to design, develop and deliver professional instruction initiatives that enhance teaching and learning.  Her areas of focus include curriculum development and program management, and she consults with faculty on a variety of teaching methods including TBL, POGIL and JITT.  She serves as the teaching assistant for Teaching in Medical Education (TiME) Faculty Fellows graduate program and also assists with developing and contributing content to the iTeach website Email La’tisha
