General Statement of Duties:  The Program Assistant coordinates and monitors all nonclinical operations of the APTS team under the supervision of the team leader.  The APTS clinical team is licensed as an ICT team and provides services to individuals with a history of chronic homelessness who have been diagnosed with a serious and persistent mental illness.  The APTS Program Assistant reports directly to the APTS Team Leader.   The Program Assistant also provides limited administrative assistance to VSH as a whole under the supervision of the Deputy Executive Director.

Qualifications:

*         High School diploma and three years of customer service experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience required.

 *   Experience with office management procedures required.

 *   Knowledge of the Intensive/Assertive Community Treatment Model preferred.

 *   Good computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required.

 *   Ability to interact in a professional manner with program participants, VSH peers, and collateral agencies required.

 *   Ability to function as part of a team program and ability to multi-task required.

 *   Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail required.

 *   Valid driver’s license and ability to meet VSH driving requirements is required.

 *   Experience with homeless persons, person experiencing a severe and persistent mental illness, the homeless service system, and/or the mental health system is strongly preferred.

1.  Teach work readiness skills in weekly workshops, adapting curriculum to participants

2.  Comply with all program documentation regulations, including timely submission of all required paperwork (case notes, student time sheets, etc.)

3.  Prepare periodic reports on program outcomes for Summer Program Operations Manager

4.  Serve as liaison to Work Site Supervisors for Summer Youth Interns

5.  Other duties as assigned

Reports to:  Summer Operations Manager

Work Schedule:  25-30 Hours per Week, Mon- Fri, Saturday (optional training)

Wage:  Job Supervisor, $14.00/hour

          
Educational Requirements and Experience:

1.  You must be a college graduate who has student taught or a graduate studnt with teaching experience.
2.  Self motivated and a commitment to excellence
3.  Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and time management skills
4.  Experience in workforce development, case management, career planning, or related field preferred
5.  Experience teaching and mentoring youth
6.  Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

Driving Responsibilities:
Must have own transportation for weekly visits to job sites; a valid driver’s license; mileage provided.  

This is an initiative with the City of Richmond.
