Description: The Day Treatment Counselor provides direct care for assigned clients in a therapeutic after-school program serving children ages 5-22 years with behavioral and emotional challenges and cognitive and developmental delays.
Compensation: $13/hour
Schedule: Weekdays 1-8pm (approx)
REQUIRED Skills:
· Bachelors Degree in Human Services field
· One year clinical experience with children
· Valid Virginia Driver’s License AND good driving record
· Excellent documentation skills
PREFERRED Skills:
· Proficient with Windows, Outlook, and MS Word.
· Experience with proprietary software.
· Knowledge of life skills counseling techniques and appropriate intervention procedures with children with MR, autism, and cerebral palsy.
· Knowledge of behavioral management techniques.
· Knowledge of basic medications administration, vehicle transport, first aid and CPR.
· Knowledge of appropriate methods of physical restraint.
· Able to work effectively in stressful situations.

Career Counseling Coordinator (Bilingual), Career Readiness; William Byrd Community House
Objective: Ensure programmatic outcomes related to literacy and numeracy gains, completion of a diploma or equivalent, and entering employment or post secondary education. Supports the development and achievement of youth participants’ career goals through ongoing career counseling, mentoring, education, and coordination of support services
Reports To: Director of Youth and Young Adult Services
Primary Responsibilities:
- Achieves program performance outcomes related to common measures
- Manages career counseling support and coordination of services for 60 out of school youth
- Reviews and verifies participant eligibility before delivering services
- Documents a minimum of 15 successful individual participant contacts per week
- Conducts orientation and assessment sessions for program applicants
- Documents comprehensive assessment and individual service strategies for all youth participants:
- Assesses and documents each participant’s Basic Skills
- Assesses and documents each participant’s Career interest
- Develops and documents an Individual Service Strategy (ISS) for each participant following comprehensive assessment
- Adapts program curriculum to the needs/challenges of participants
- Facilitates monthly participant team meetings
- Coordinates and documents referrals for 10 program elements for program participants
- Provides excellent customer service to program participants and partners
- Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Salaried full time position, 40 hours weekly Monday-Friday, with some evenings and weekends required
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated professional fluency in Spanish: documentation preferred; portion of interview conducted in Spanish required
- Three years experience in workforce development, education, case management, and/or career planning or related field; Baccalaureate degree preferred in related discipline- lesser degree and appropriate experience may be substituted
- Career Counselor Certification (may be completed within first 30 days of employment)
- Minimum one year experience mentoring low-income youth
- Demonstrated familiarity with local social service organizations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must have valid driver’s license and own transportation

presentation skills; ability to motivate store team members; computer
skills, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; exceptional
organizational , oral, written, motivational and customer service
