Top Hat – New Student Response System

VCU now has an official partnership with Top Hat, which will become the University’s supported Student Response System (SRS). Official communication about this will be coming from the provost office next week, but we wanted to share the news with you now.

Top Hat is a cloud-based solution which offers many new features for classroom engagement, and students will no longer be required to purchase a physical device, but can use their own mobile device, and simply purchase a Top Hat subscription. You can start using Top Hat as early as Spring 2018!

The Academic Technologies department  will be working with faculty to implement this new technology. Faculty are encouraged to attend a January online open Q&A session where questions, concerns, and details will be answered.

In addition, Servicedesk has been updated to reflect these changes.

Lastly, there will be several online and face-to-face training opportunities, plus vendor concierge sessions held through Fall 2018.

As planning and the roll-out progresses, more information will be communicated.
