Wireless Connection in Cabell Library

I love Cabell but… If you are going to offer wireless internet it’s got to get better than this! Every few minutes it loses connection and I have to reconnect online. The wireless I guess could be called “patchy”. I don’t want to waste a library computer to get on personal stuff when people are in line and fight to get academic matters done. Please help us get some more reliable Internet!!

Thank you for your feedback. The wireless in Cabell Library is managed and was recently upgraded by Technology Services. Since the upgrade we have had very few complaints. If you are in the Cabell Library with your laptop, you might consider asking for assistance at the Technology Services Help Desk (http://www.ts.vcu.edu/helpdesk) in the basement.

We will also forward you comment to Technology Services to see if there is a pattern of reported connectivity issues of which we are not aware.

Wireless Network Upgrades Coming Soon

The wireless network in the Cabell Library is still out of order. I can see the network name but it shows Minimum or no connectivity. It has been like that since last so many months. Is something being done about it? Media Reserves is loaning ethernet cables to students… are we going backwords in technology?

The wireless survey mentioned in the April 2006 blog posting has been completed. Based upon the survey, new equipment (recommended by VCU Technology Services) is on order and will be installed this summer. We also expect to make additional investments next year in the wireless network.

The wireless network is and will be managed by VCU Technology Services. For assistance with wireless connectivity contact the VCU Technology Services Help Desk at 828-2227 or e-mail to help@vcu.edu.

Wireless problems at TML

Being in the MCV Library it would seem that the wireless network would be functional. For some reason, it works intermittently causing valuable time and work to be lost trying to get back online. This problem is highly annoying and one that should be addressed.
