March 26 – MCV Campus Parking and Transportation Forum Rescheduled for April 23

The new date for the MCV Campus Parking and Transportation forum is Tuesday, April 3, from 12 pm to 1 pm,  inside of the Kontos Medical Sciences Building Auditorium.

As a reminder,  during these events, senior leaders will present information regarding new parking and transportation initiatives, updates and improvements.  Additionally, as with our past forums, all attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

In the event you cannot attend the forums, livestream will be available at https://apps.parking.vcu.edu/livestream.asp. The presentation as well as a transcript of the questions and answers from the event will be made available at http://www.parking.vcu.edu/news-and-alerts/forums following the forum.

Please note, the Monroe Park Campus parking office, located at 1108-A West Broad Street, will temporarily close from 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, April 3.  The MCV Campus parking office, located at 659 N. 8th Street, will remain open.

March 23 – D Deck Emergency Testing on March 29

On Thursday, March 29, from 7 am to 3 pm, crews will be onsite to test the readiness of the electrical systems in the D Deck.  This test, performed annually, ensures that the emergency lighting, elevators, etc. will work as they should in the event of an actual power outage.

Please note, during the testing period, lighting at this facility may be lowered to emergency levels intermittently, and entry/exit gates may be raised.  Elevators should continue to remain operational throughout the test.

A VCU Parking and Transportation representative will remain onsite during the testing to ensure that traffic flows smoothly.


March 23 – WCSD Entry/Exit Lane Closure on March 28

In efforts to improve the ingress to and egress from the West Cary Street Deck, on Wednesday, March 28, during the hours of 8 am to 4 pm, crews will be mounting elbows onto the posts which hold the RFID readers at the entrance and exit lanes of this facility.

While this work takes place, one alternating lane will be closed for installation and testing; however, one entry and exit lane will remain open at all times.

We ask that you are mindful of the workers when entering and exiting this facility.


March 19 – Phase II Update: WBSD Elevator Modernization Project

The Shafer Street side elevator renovations are nearing completion, and final inspections will be taking place this week.  We will notify you once the inspection process is complete and the elevators are re-opened.

We would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this project.


March 16 – 14th & Bank St. RamRide Stop is Open

The RamRide stop, located at 14th and Bank Streets, has reopened and is being serviced as normal.  The temporary stop at 14th and Main Streets will no longer be in operation.


March 12 – Temporary Closure at 14th & Main (northbound) Stop on March 13

On Tuesday, March 13, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, the RamRide stop located at 14th & Main Streets (northbound) will be closed due to nearby construction.

Passengers who currently utilize this stop should proceed to the temporary RamRide stop located across the street on 14th St. (southbound), next to the Residence Inn during this time.

Please note, this construction schedule is tentative and may change; however, we will notify subscribers in the event of changes.


March 9 – Level Closures in Preparation for Potential Inclement Weather

In preparation for potential inclement weather, at approximately 3 pm on Sunday, March 11, we will begin to close the top level of each our parking decks.

If you will be parking in one of our gated facilities during this time, we ask that you utilize the lower levels.

In the event the inclement weather risk expires, we will re-open the top levels by 7 am on Monday, March 12.  Should we receive inclement weather, the top levels will be reopened once they become safe for parking/driving.


March 8 – Temporary RamRide Stop Near 14th & Main St. Begins Service Tomorrow

As you may be aware, the existing stop at 14th and Bank Street has temporarily closed due to construction.  Beginning tomorrow, March 9, RamRide will service a new, temporary stop, located just south of the intersection of 14th and Main Street (at the existing GRTC stop). RamRide signage will be placed at this location for easy identification.

The 14th and Main stop will remain in service until the 14th and Bank Street stop is re-opened.  We will notify you when the stop at 14th and Bank Street is re-opened.

On Friday, March 9, from 5 am to 7 am, Facilities Management will be onsite to test the readiness of the electrical systems in the Laurel Street Deck.  This test, performed annually, ensures that the emergency lighting, elevators, etc. will work as they should in the event of an actual power outage.

Please note, during the testing period, lighting at this facility will be lowered to emergency levels intermittently, and entry/exit gates may be raised.  Elevators should continue to remain operational throughout the test.

March 5- Upcoming HSD Emergency System Testing

On Thursday, March 8, from 11 am to 12:30 pm, Facilities Management will be onsite to test the readiness of the electrical systems in the Henry Street Decks.  This test, performed annually, ensures that the emergency lighting, elevators, etc. will work as they should in the event of an actual power outage.

Please note, during the testing period, lighting at this facility will be lowered to emergency levels intermittently, and entry/exit gates may be raised.  Elevators should continue to remain operational throughout the test.

Please note, during the two hour period, lighting at this facility will be lowered to emergency levels intermittently, and entry/exit gates may be raised.  Elevators should continue to remain operational throughout the testing period.

March 1 – Upcoming Annual Emergency System Deck Testing

On Monday, March 5, from 10:30 am to noon, Facilities Management will be onsite to test the readiness of the electrical systems in the Jefferson Street Deck to ensure that the emergency lighting, elevators, etc. work as they should in the event of an actual power outage.

Please note, during this two hour period, lighting at this facility will be lowered to emergency levels intermittently and entry/exit gates may be raised during brief periods of time.  Elevators should remain operational throughout the testing period.

A VCU Parking and Transportation representative will remain onsite during the testing to ensure that traffic flows smoothly.
