Compensated on an hourly and commission basis; commissions based on both individual and total VCU sales. 
Eligible to extend their internship experience for multiple semesters pending their performance.

Residential Advocate and Domestic Violence Specialist; YWCA of Richmond

The YWCA of Richmond is a large non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. We provide excellent advocacy and clinical services to men, women and children experiencing domestic and sexual violence. You must possess a valid driver’s license, pass a drug and criminal background check, and have a degree in social work or psychology, have crisis advocacy experience, and the ability to speak fluent Spanish is preferred. We welcome and encourage persons of all races, gender
identities, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, socio-economic status, and ethnicities to apply.
 We are currently hiring for: 
Residential Advocates
Evening, overnight, and weekend part-time shifts available. Set days and times available as well as flexible (as needed) positions needed to work in a creative and therapeutic residential program for women and children who have experienced Domestic Violence.
Each position will work with a clinical team and report directly to the Residential Supervisor.
Qualifications: Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in human services, driver’s license and transportation, and at-least two years experience working with individuals or families in crisis. But will consider all applicants. Persons must have good computer skills and excellent
listening and communication skills. The hourly pay rate is based on education and experience.
Domestic Violence Hotline Specialist: (Full Time/Daytime Hour Position)
The Hotline Specialist will primarily be responsible for providing information and referral services to domestic violence and sexual assault callers; document all calls answered in accordance with YWCA policies and procedures; screen callers for appropriateness for
residential, community or support group services by assessing the extent of domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, and homeless issues. This position will also need to successfully be able to process new residents by completing intake forms, reviewing shelter policies and procedures; arranges transportation for residents to appointments;
completes exit forms and reviews follow-up services. This position will also maintaining accurate demographic and other statistical information according to YWCA policies and procedures; tabulate and maintain shelter records of all direct service hours and other administrative duties as needed. 
Qualifications: Bachelor degree in human services field or equivalent experience; an understanding of the issues of intimate partner and family violence; ability to work with people of various ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, sexual orientations, and religious backgrounds; an
ability to remain patient and calm in crisis situations; energetic and flexible; self-directed and able to make decisions; ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
