Scholarship Sharing at VCU would like to invite students to attend our first annual Scholarship Application Workshop. This event will be on Saturday, Sept 15 located at Sweet Frog at 815 West Cary Street from 2-5 pm.
This will be an informal event, though we do ask that students bring a copy of their applications they are currently working on, a laptop if possible, and to dress nicely from the hip up because we will be giving students head-shots for their portfolios and resumes.
Students are not required to stay for the duration of the event, only until they have finished with their applications. We will have a basic portfolio students will build at the event that will help us better understand who you are as a student then based upon what you fill we will match you with some currently open for application scholarships as well as opportunities which will reopen in the spring semester.
At this event students will have the opportunity to:
– Be matched with external scholarships,
– Receive help filling the scholarship applications they are currently in the process of applying to
– Receive help writing request letters to professors and employers for letters of recommendation
– Receive a head shot for their portfolio/resume/scholarship application (Please dress nicely from the hips up!)
– Learn about upcoming events
Also as proud supporters of Operations Smile we do encourage students to come get some delicious yogurt to support children born with cleft lip and cleft palate. Sweet Frog will be donating 20% of all sales throughout the day where students show the flier on their phone at the register to surgeries to give children worldwide a beautiful smile.
Please circulate the attached fliers to any students who think would also be interested in attending. 🙂
