Give A Healthy Thanks

The holiday season is a time when staying healthy can be a challenge. This can be especially hard when the holiday season kicks off with a huge feast. However, staying healthy this Thanksgiving is simple and there are many ways to give thanks without feeling guilt!

Eat breakfast: Control your appetite by eating a normal breakfast the morning of Thanksgiving. Many people like to “save up” for the big Thanksgiving meal, but that can actually make you have less control over portions and feel bloated.screen-shot-2016-11-11-at-12-06-34-pm

Hydrate: It is common to mistake hunger for thirst. Be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to increase your metabolism and reduce overindulgence. Also, try avoiding iced tea or soda with your meal to cut calories and keep your body hydrated.

Be Active: Go for a morning walk or afternoon jog to stay active over the holiday! Encourage family and friends to join you for extra company.

Portion Control: Thanksgiving is known for heavy, filling foods like potatoes, stuffing, and turkey gravy. It’s easy for your eyes to be bigger than your stomach. Take your time while eating, monitor your portions, and participate in conversation at the table to reduce overeating and a stomach ache.
