The Image Conference is a forum at which participants will interrogate the nature and functions of image-making and images. The conference has a cross-disciplinary focus, bringing together researchers, teachers and practitioners from areas of interest including: architecture, art, cognitive science, communications, computer science, cultural studies, design, education, film studies, history, linguistics, management, marketing, media studies, museum studies, philosophy, photography, psychology, religious studies, semiotics, and more.

We are pleased to hold the 2011 conference alongside the San Sebastian International Film Festival, founded in 1953 and acknowledged by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) as an A Category Festival.

As well as a line-up of internationally-known plenary speakers, the conference will also include numerous paper, workshop and colloquium presentations by practitioners, teachers and researchers. Participants are invited to submit a presentation proposal for a 30-minute paper, 60-minute workshop, or a jointly presented 90-minute colloquium session.

Presenters may choose to submit written papers for publication in the refereed International Journal of the Image. If you are unable to attend the conference in person, virtual registrations are also available which allow you to submit a paper for refereeing and possible publication, as well as access to the journal. We also encourage you to present on the conference YouTube Playlist.

The deadline for the next round in the call for papers (a title and short abstract) is 10 March 2011. Future deadlines will be announced on the conference website after this date. Proposals are reviewed within two weeks of submission. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with
Masters; 4 Years with PhD. This requirement requires language test
scores of 4/4/4 (i.e., native ability) or higher in the target language
listening/reading/speaking comprehension rating according to the ILR
scale and as measured by the DLPT or comparable language test vehicle.
Candidates must be able to write and speak in a clear and concise manner
with excellent grammar and pronunciation in the target language and
English. Candidates must possess technical computer information system
skills, at a minimum, word processing and data entry (i.e., MS Office)
to be used in conjunction with written translations.

Applicants will be subject to testing, by the
government, for both target language and English proficiency levels.
Location will be in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Position may
provide opportunity for domestic and foreign travel.

Must have an
active TS/SCI CLEARANCE WITH FULL SCOPE POLY. Bachelors degree with a
minimum of 9 years of experience or equivalent experience in lieu of
degree. Must have previous experience as a professional Linguist/Intel
Analyst with strong summarizing and editing skills. Technical Writing
experience preferred. Knowledge of technical and mechanical subject
matter a plus. Excellent oral and written English language skills
required.
