Traditional B.S. Admission Decisions

Admission decisions for the Traditional B.S. program beginning fall 2016 are going out today. Decisions are being emailed to the primary email address provided in the application for admission and are coming from the NURADMISSION@vcu.edu email address.

Another post will be made when all decisions are out. Thank you for your patience as we communicate these decisions.

What it means to be on the Traditional B.S. Wait List

Admission to the Traditional B.S. program is very competitive and we receive many more qualified applications than we have space available. If you received a notification that you were placed on the wait list, know that the faculty saw strength in your application. While each application cycle is different, we hope the information below is helpful to you.

  • The earliest we will know if space is available to begin admitting from the wait list is early June and the latest we could potentially pull from the wait list is August 31st.
  • You will be notified via email if you are pulled from the wait list. If you do not hear from us, a space has not opened up for you. We are not able to notify you if movement occurs on the wait list so we do encourage you to check your emails daily.
  • If you are pulled from the wait list and offered admission, there will be a very tight turnaround time in which to accept the offer.
  • If your contact information has or will be changing from what you submitted on your application, let us know – NURADMISSION@vcu.edu.
  • If at any time your plans change and you no longer wish to be considered for admission, please let us know you would like to be removed from the wait list – NURADMISSION@vcu.edu.
  • To accept your position on the wait list, you must follow the instructions and respond by the deadline provided in your wait list offer.

We will be in touch as soon as we know if a space becomes available for you.

Why the VCU RN to B.S. Program is Special

Are you considering advancing your nursing education beyond the ADN or diploma level? The VCU School of Nursing offers an online RN to B.S. program that allows you to earn your bachelor’s degree while working as a nurse. Consider what makes our program special:

Admission three times per year
Beginning with the 2016/17 academic year, students can begin the program in fall, spring and summer. This offers you greater flexibility in beginning your education when the time is right for you.

Small classes offered year-round
Students are admitted to a cohort so you’ll follow through the program with the same students. See a sample plan of study at the bottom of this post.

Personalized advising
You will receive personalized attention and guidance from a dedicated professional advisor. Marisa Taylor will work with you every step of the way while you are in the program.

Transcript evaluation service
Before you apply, our Admission Advisor will work with you to let you know how your prior academic learning will transfer to satisfy our prerequisite and general education requirements. This will help you plan for when it is appropriate for you to apply to our RN-B.S. program. Contact Erica Stubblefield for assistance.

Guaranteed admission
Highly qualified applicants who apply by the application deadline and meet all other admission criteria are eligible for guaranteed admission:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all college coursework
  • Minimum grade of “B” on all nursing classes
  • Recommendation from nurse manager or head of nursing program that highly recommends or recommends without reservation
