Project PUSH- Farewell
Fourteen youth soccer coaches from South Africa are in Richmond, participating in Project PUSH, a partnership between the VCU Center for Sport Leadership, Richmond Strikers Soccer Club, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa, Ragball International, and Grassroots Soccer. This two week program is a two-way cultural exchange funded under the U. S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ International Sports Programming Initiative. Its goal is to harness the power of sport to generate social change.
Our guests from South Africa boarded a bus for Washington D.C. Friday morning to begin their trip back home. There were smiles, hugs, tears and laughs shared with everyone involved with Project PUSH. Check out the video below for a recap of this two-week journey that changed many lives and proved what Nelson Mandela first said, “Sport has the power to change the world.”
