Howe in Spotlight as U.S. Open Draws Close

With the U.S. Open a little more than three weeks away, a Center for Sport Leadership graduate is getting attention for his role in planning the tournament. Screen Shot 2016-05-19 at 10.25.59 AM

Charlie Howe (’07)  is the Championship Manager for the 2016 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club outside of Pittsburgh. Howe has been on the ground since early 2014 laying the groundwork for this world class event.

Recently, Howe, a Mechanicsville, Virginia native, has been profiled by two publications promoting the event. Virginia Golfer is a monthly magazine produced by the Virginia State Golf Association. Howe was also profiled by Forbes Travel Guide.

Howe has for the United State Golf Association for eight years working his way up to his current role. Howe told Virginia Golfer:  “I’m working on one of the largest sporting events in the world. And what’s not to like about that?”
