Mrs. Harmon’s Last Day

IMG_0558

Danise Harmon’s official role at the Center for Sport Leadership for the last nine years has been Business Manager. Anyone connected to the program knows she is much more than that. She has been an advisor, confidant, cheerleader, surrogate mother, & most of all a loving & caring friend.

Today is her last day at the CSL. She is moving into a new role with the School of Education starting next week. We celebrated her last day by having (what else) Sugar Shack Donuts this morning. At a breakfast earlier this week, we presented her with a plaque, thanking her for nine years of service and a staff picture (so she doesn’t forget us!).

We wish you all the best, Danise. You’ll always be part of our family.

CSL Alum’s Powerful Tribute to a Friend

Ryan Horn loves to talk about Yoram Mwila. The two met while Ryan, a 2008 graduate of the Center for Sport Leadership, worked with the VCU men’s soccer team as the associate head strength & conditioning coach for VCU athletics. There was an instant bond and connection.

Four years ago today, Yoram was killed in a car accident in his native country of Zambia. At the time, Ryan had moved on to work at Tulsa with their men’s basketball team. This video was shot shortly after Ryan learned of Yoram’s death. The tribute is a powerful, heartfelt tribute to Yoram. Thanks for sharing Ryan.
