Tiller ’16 Shares HIs Story with Incoming Students

Kevin Tiller’s dream was to work in the NBA. From the day he walked on VCU’s campus as part of the Center for Sport Leadership, his focus never wavered. He worked hard, developed relationships and industry contacts and made numerous personal sacrifices. He did everything the CSL faculty and staff asked of him. In fact, he exceeded expectations.

Tiller, now a player development coordinator for the Orlando Magic, returned to campus as the alumni speaker for New Student Orientation, delivering a powerful and heartfelt message.

“This program changed my life. They believed in me.”

Kevin also believed in himself and recognized the opportunities and resources around him. He understood the CSL was empowering him to reach his goals. At Orientation, he told the new students the challenges they face in graduate school will prepare them for the rigorous and competitive sports industry.

“You’ve got 8 months. The sports world isn’t waiting for you. And it isn’t easy. Every day is a challenge but I love every single minute of it.”
