First day of Class

by Ryan Hannifin
The much anticipated day is here! It’s VCU’s first day of classes for the Fall 2010 semester. With it still being “Welcome Week” it can be easy to lose track of time with all the events that are taking place around campus, so be careful. Don’t want to be late on the first day!

Welcome Week

by Katherine Beck
Have we mentioned how excited we are about all the new faces on campus? We hope that moving in, meeting your new roommates and making new friends has been exciting for you, too! Now, it’s time to get pumped for VCU’s Welcome Week, which starts August 21 and runs through August 28. Welcome Week is a great way to adjust to your new VCU life, meet even more friends and participate in some really fun activities. Events during Welcome Week take place all over campus and range from inner-tube water polo to a casino night. The more events you attend, the more chances you have to win prizes like a $500 gift card to Barnes and Noble, an iPod nano or even a flat screen TV. Check out a full schedule of Welcome Week activities at the following website – and enjoy!

Move-in Weekend!

by Ryan Hannifin
It’s that time of year! Move-in weekend is finally here, which means classes are just around the corner. Over 3,000 students will move in to the freshman residence halls during move-in weekend, August 21 and 22. It’s a very exciting time on VCU’s campus; look for current VCU students and staff to be on hand to greet incoming freshmen and their families with a smile, a helpful hand and a bottle of cold water.
Once finished with moving in, students and their families can visit Monroe Park where many “Welcome to VCU” activities take place. It’s also a perfect opportunity for new VCU students to meet each other. In the past, there has been a mechanical bull that the students can attempt to ride!!
We look forward to seeing you on campus! WELCOME to Virginia Commonwealth University!
