Winter Break Closing

by Cara Thompson, regional recruitment specialist
It’s December, and in the minds of VCU students that means two things: finals and winter break! Finals week has been tedious, but after submitting that last exam or paper and taking that big breath of triumph, the year seems to have just slipped by so fast.
For all of our prospective students, now is the time to work on finalizing and submitting your application for admission. Our online application and instructions can be found at www.ugrad.vcu.edu/apply. Don’t forget, the regular decision deadline is coming up on January 15, 2012!
On behalf of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, we would like to wish you good luck with your finals and extend our warm holiday wishes! Please remember, VCU will be closing on December 23, 2011 in observance of winter break and will reopen on January 3, 2012.
Have a safe and enjoyable winter break!

VCU Defeats Richmond

by Katherine Beck, admissions counselor
We thought we’d tip off the week (pun intended!) by giving a shout out to our men’s basketball team after a great win against the University of Richmond in the Black and Blue Classic on Friday. Congratulations, guys!

When will I hear?

by Katherine Beck, admissions counselor
A lot of questions we are receiving these days seem to focus around the same idea: When will I hear a decision? Hopefully the following information will help break it down:
I am applying to be a freshman for the fall 2012 semester.
Students who submit an application and all required supporting documents by the recommended Jan. 15 deadline will receive an admissions decision from our office in writing, via the U.S. postal mail by April 1. We review applications on a rolling basis; therefore, students who applied sooner could hear from us before April 1.
I am applying as a transfer student for the fall 2012 semester.
Transfer applicants who submit an application and all required supporting documents before the recommended transfer deadline of May 1 will receive an admissions decision from our office in writing, via the U.S. postal mail throughout the spring semester on a rolling basis.
Checking your application status
If you applied online, you can easily check the status of your application at your own convenience. To do this, you must log back in using the same username and password created when completing your application at the following website:
