It’s application deadline day!

by Christal Holmes, Campus Visit and Communications Manager

The countdown is over, today (January 15) is our recommended deadline for freshmen applying for fall 2013!

Students who apply and submit all materials to complete their application packages by today will be notified of an admissions decision in writing, via U.S. mail, by April 1.  We do have rolling admission, so it is certainly possible to hear from us before April 1 the earlier that an application package has been completed.

Recently, we’ve been getting a number of phone calls and e-mails from students (and parents) wanting to make sure that all materials have been received in order to complete application packages before the deadline. Remember, if you’ve applied electronically, you can also check your application status online at your convenience (we will not post admissions decisions online).  Instructions for checking an online application status are provided below.

If you check your status and it seems that something is missing, do not (repeat, do NOT) panic! We have received thousands of pieces of mail and it takes time to process all of it and match it to the correct application. We work hard to make sure that every single piece of information that has been sent about you ends up with your application. That being said, it takes a little bit of time. Please be patient!

As always, if you have questions or concerns, you are more than welcome to give us a call or shoot us an email. We can be reached by phone at (804) 828-1222 or (800) 841-3638 or email us at Keep in mind that our offices will remain open this week up through Friday.  We will be closed from Saturday, January 19 through Monday, January 21 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend.  We will reopen on Tuesday, January 22, at 8:00 a.m.

Happy Deadline Day!

Students who applied electronically are able to check their status online in three easy steps:

1. Go to the following Web site:

2. Choose the “Apply for Admission” link and log in using the same Login ID and PIN you created to apply.

3. Check the status of your application materials (we do not provide admissions decisions online).

Students who applied using a paper application should contact our office directly and ask to with their application processor to check their application status.
