VCU Welcome Week Fall 2017

Incoming freshmen, the beginning of classes is just around the corner but even closer is VCU’s Welcome Week. This is the time of year where we welcome you into our home, and now yours, Virginia Commonwealth Universtiy. It will be hosted August 19th-27th, throughout campus. There will be lots of fun things to do, activities to get you accustomed to campus life, and definitely some opportunities for learning along the way.

Plan your Welcome Week experience by downloading the VCU RAM Guide from the Apple or Google Play app stores and searching for VCU Welcome Week. Personalize your schedule, browse events, view maps and stay up-to-date on the latest information from your phone, tablet or computer.

Recommended Activities 

Love ‘n’ Liquor; Hosted multiple times during the week Love ‘n’ Liquor is an interactive session that uses clickers, comedy, and music to explore the truth about substance and sex. Varying times and locations, check the app for when and where to attend.

Meet the PresidentRing in your fall semester with the President! Come out and meet Dr. Michael Rao, President of Virginia Commonwealth University and VCU Health, hear from various departments and student organizations and participate in awesome giveaways, photos, and refreshments on us!

Spirit WalkIn an annual Welcome Week tradition, VCU Alumni welcomes the incoming first-year class with the Ram Spirit Walk. Alumni, faculty, staff and current students line the streets as new students and The Peppas spirit band march from New Student Convocation to the Monroe Park Campus Block Party.

SOVO FairThe Student Organization and Volunteer Opportunities (SOVO) Fair is one of the annual traditions at VCU. It is an exciting event that serves as a kick-off to promote student engagement in campus life and the Richmond community. Student organizations have tables to showcase their groups and recruit new members. Community agencies from around the city participate in raising awareness and recruiting volunteers for both short and long-term placement. Information on organizations and other involvement opportunities will be provided. Friday, August 25th 3-6PM.

Food-Truck-A-PaloozaCome out to enjoy the diverse food trucks that Richmond has to offer! Stop by tables outside of the University Student Commons for FREE $1 vouchers to use at any of the food trucks – tickets are limited so arrive early! There will also be music and games throughout the event. Saturday, August 26th 1-4PM.
