Our counseling staff, including transfer counselors Chris Oliver and Philip Wilkerson, are available to help students build bridges to VCU as they prepare to transfer!

Thinking about transferring to VCU in 2018? Mark your calendars with these important dates:

  • November 1, 2017 – Spring 2018 application deadline
  • March 15, 2018 – Fall 2018 application deadline

Transfer students applying for admission to programs in the School of the Arts should visit their website for more information about requirements and deadlines.

In addition, the VCU Transfer Center offers a number of services and resources for transfer students, including information about credit transfers, course equivalency tables and unofficial transfer credit evaluations for prospective students.

Whether you have questions about the application process or next steps after being admitted to the university, we’re here to help!

VCU Family Weekend

Family Weekend

Dear Parents of enrolled students,  Friday, Nov. 3 through Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 is VCU’s Family Weekend. We hope that you will be able to join us, as this is a great opportunity to experience your student’s campus life, meet their friends, and enjoy the VCU and Richmond communities.

For more information, email or call the Parent and Family Helpline at (804) 828-7322.

Online registration will open for Family Weekend in late fall. There is a $5 registration fee per attendee for the event. This fee provides each registrant with an access pass granting admission into non-ticketed Family Weekend events, as well as discounts at local restaurants and shops. VCU students and children 2 years of age and under will receive an access pass for free.

In addition, there are ticketed events planned throughout the weekend that you can register to attend. Ticketed events sell out quickly, so don’t delay purchasing your tickets once registration opens. If you plan to attend a ticketed event with your student, you must purchase a ticket for your student. When you register, you may also purchase a commemorative Family Weekend t-shirt to serve as a memento of the great time you’ll have with your student on campus!

Family Weekend check-in will begin on Friday, Nov. 3, and will be held from noon until 7 p.m. On Saturday, Nov. 4, check-in will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Check-in on both days will take place in the Virginia Rooms located on the second floor of the University Student Commons. When you arrive at check-in, you will receive your Family Weekend access passes, special event tickets, any purchased apparel and a Family Weekend tote bag.

If you are unable to come to check-in during the hours mentioned above, please send your student to check-in on your behalf.

Financial Literacy Month: Do the Math

Prospective students, are you worried about paying for college? October is Financial Literacy Month so we here at the VCU Office of Admissions want to help you navigate the daunting responsibility of paying for your higher education.

Do the Math

Did you know that you could save up to $50,000 buy taking 15 credits a semester? This is based on a 120-credit hour program with standard tuition and fees, books/supplies, room, board, miscellaneous, and transportation expenses over a four-year period. By taking 15 credits a semester you could graduate in four years instead of six. This cuts back on standard tuition and fees, books/supplies, room, board, miscellaneous, transportation expenses and other living expenses that would accumulate in the extra years.
