Unlinked Pages »

Sometimes pages in a CMS project do not publish because the "page is not linked".In order for a page to publish, it must be linked to a list or an anchor somewhere in the structure. (There are exceptions to this rule, though none of the current projects at VCU fall in this realm).Disconnect/Reconnect PageWhen you receive this error, the first thing you . . .

Preventing duplicate publication »

In OpenText CMS, when a page is linked via keywords, the system duplicates the page and publishes twice (if in different directories) instead of making a path to the original. To prevent this happening, this code tricks the page into thinking the page is referenced instead of copied. Therefore it keeps the correct path:<reddot:cms>  <foreac . . .

The CMS is not a Wiki, so how do users collaborate? »

Okay I know the CMS is not a wiki! But at a university the big word on campus is "collaboration". So if you can't change the people, you have to give them a work around. We are not talking about this:Student worker creates page > Supervisor Approves > Page is PublishedThat can be solved with a simple content workflow. STF Child Element Of »

This little tidbit actually came as a suggestion from a colleague using OpenText at PennState University [http://www.psu.edu]. Quick preface note, when requesting that an editor enter a URL for a link, keep in mind that you do NOT have to use an anchor element for this.
